Sixties chick at Goodwood

I went to the Goodwood Revival this year for the first time. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's the world’s most popular historic motor race meeting and the only event of its kind to be staged entirely in the nostalgic time capsule of the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

It's a unique chance to revel in the glamour and allure of motor racing in the romantic time capsule of the world’s most authentic motor circuit.

About 70% of people dress up in 40s,  50s or 60s outfits and some are quite outrageous (check out the website above and you will see what I mean!). I had convinced myself I wasn't going to dress up as it was too much of an expense for just one day. However, the morning before, I had a change of heart so headed to my favourite dress agency, Deuxieme, which sells designer clothes which are all nearly-new, second-hand or vintage and at affordable prices. I knew I had a better chance of finding an outfit there than if I trawled numerous charity shops as I had limited time.  I made the decision that I would not leave Deuxieme until I had an outfit!

One of the staff, Charlie, was an absolute star and she found me the entire outfit: dress, shoes, scarf and even sunglasses, and then suggested what I needed to do to complete the 60s image. I couldn't have done it without her help.  The shoes were brand new and had six-inch heels (what a nightmare to walk in given that the event is held in a paddock!), the dress was Italian, the scarf a beautiful black silk with sparkles and well, the sunglasses were fabulous Dior and cost £400 new but I bagged them for a fantastic price. I will certainly get plenty of use from each item, probably not as a whole outfit though!

I'll leave you to judge from the photo whether I pulled it off as a Sixties chick!
