Ideas for flowers and plants in the home

Flowers from my new orchid fell off the plant, so I floated them in a green bowl and used it as a centrepiece last night when two friends came for supper.

The painter and decorator has finally finished painting my sitting room and bathroom. I put the rooms back together and immediately went to my local florist and bought flowers and plants to make the house feel like home again after five weeks of having the rooms topsy turvy.

Here are some of the flowers and plants I bought and how I've use them. I like to get the most out of my flowers as they are not cheap to buy so you can see how I've spread a bunch of Scabias over my vintage bottles.  Orchid plants are always a good buy as they last months and need little watering. They are particularly effective in front of a mirror.

Below are a lovely Indian mirror and Indian stone plates from Quirky Dovetail. I've put flowers in a vintage Hungarian enamel coffee pot.  This feature is next to the Kenwood mixer and microwave both of which are eyesores so by creating this little colourful feature I hope the eye is drawn away from the equipment.
