Behind the scenes of a London florist

This week I have been helping out at my local florist shop, Jayne Copperwaite Flowers . I am a regular customer and they were short staffed this week so I offered to lend a hand. Years ago, I trained as a florist back in NZ and I worked as a florist when I first came to London in 1977.

Here is Jayne with Poppy

I've not worked as a florist since 1980 so am very rusty; it's not the same as arranging flowers in your own home! However, it was a strange but exhilarating feeling to be back working with flowers and watching Jayne at work. She is a superb florist and a real inspiration.

Jayne's shop is absolutely stunning and I cannot resist popping in most weekends to buy plants or flowers. Jayne has two rescue dogs who are in the shop with her — Poppy, a rescue poodle who never lets Jayne out of her sight and George, a Labradoodle.  The dogs really enhance the experience of shopping there.

Poppy loves to sit on the workbench while Jayne is creating one of her masterpieces.

Poppy is nearly submerged in flowers or greenery!

George the Labradoodle!

Below are three photos of her beautiful shop.

Look at these divine ranunculi. Can you believe it, they are called Clooney Ranunculi!
