Facing the post-Christmas decoration void

I hate the post-Christmas period when all the decorations are removed, the tree is dismantled and all the partying is over. We start the new year making loads of resolutions (most of which we never keep) and by eating and drinking less and exercising more. So so boring!

I have two Christmas decorations that I am loathe to remove. One is my dried hydrangea front door Christmas wreath which I adore as it is so natural and original (purchased at my local florist Jayne Copperwaite Flowers

I decided to retain it as a "welcome wreath" so I have removed the small baubles and eureka, a front door wreath to welcome you (yes, very American isn't it?!).  It hasn't lost any of its colour. I guess the baubles were pretty inoffensive, so I could have retained them.

The other decoration I am retaining (for the winter) is my faux tree in my hall as it is not so much Christmassy as wintery.

The decorations on it are animals, birds, apples and stars so I feel justified in retaining it for another month or two. I especially love it lit at night. Hey ho, some of us just struggle with change!!
