Easy ways to restyle your hallway

Just by changing one or two items in a space can make a huge difference to the look and feel.  In my hallway, I have just:

  • changed the small table
  • hung a rug on the wall

The transformation is amazing. Before the hallway was bland and uninteresting. The small hall table was the wrong style and made no impact. I bought a lovely old Hungarian table painted black (distressed) from my favourite shop Phoenix on Golborne to replace the hall table.

The new table, rug on the wall, artwork and metamorphic chair all combine to make a much more interesting landing area and plenty of talking points.

The paint on the new table is old so very gentle and worn and the style is very simple. I love the way it complements the vintage Hungarian runners on the floor and the general feel of the hallway.

I have hung an old Turkish rug in vibrant colours from the picture rail which adds interest to a large expanse of empty wall. I already had recently changed the artwork in the hall by adding a striking piece by my friend Foster

All in all, I have created a totally different look which is now more in keeping with the rest of the house. You can be the judge of whether it is an improvement.
