Lighting is crucial to interior design and one of the most difficult things to get right. Also sourcing the perfect light can be challenging especially as most of us are budget challenged. All those fabulous lights we see in glossy magazines are usually beyond our reach aren’t they? 🙄😫 At least nature is doing the lighting work in this room during the day! Happy Hump Day peeps, it’s nearly the weekend 🤪

Bizarre light as the clouds darken, thunder rumbles ever closer and the heavens are about to open. That puts paid to using my 🛵 to go and see a client 🙄 What a wonderful morning I had with @carliescandles and @mimivartworks sitting in this room when the sun was shining having tea & cake and talking all things IG, art and interiors. Morning peeps! How’s your #motivationmonday going? 👍or 👎? I’m kickstarting my week with three Instagrammers for 9.30am coffee & cake networking session - the lovely @jackie.hoyte @carliescandles and @mimivartworks. Check out their feeds and give them a follow. @mimivartworks is the most fantastic picture framer here in Balham so if you need a good framer and you don’t live far from Balham, bring your art to her. I love a meeting of the minds putting the IG and interiors worlds to rights and gleaning useful tips from each other, don’t you? Unfortunately my local friend Roz, half of the two artists that are @tipperleyhill couldn’t join us but she’ll be well represented by the numerous pieces of their art that I have in my home including this moody landscape on the mantlepiece in the guest room. I love to use art to style shelves and this one adds a much needed pop of colour. I hope your week will be everything you expect it to be and a lot more. What’s the most exciting thing you are doing this week ...... and please don’t say you’re putting up your Christmas tree as I can’t bear to think of Christmas yet (am I the only one?!) 🤔😲😫

I always advise my clients to have fun with colour in the ground floor loo and this client didn’t hold back! 💓She adores pink so I chose @littlegreenepaintcompany ‘Leather’. I advised her to paint all the woodwork in the same colour in order to create a real wow factor. I’m happy to report she heeded my advice. 😜 Now it needs some fun and funky artwork. Could you live with a loo in this colour? After all you don’t spend inordinate amounts of time in there 😂

View from my cuppa. Had a fab night with my cousin and friend (we are all from Christchurch- NZ) and my cousin stayed over. We are a bit jaded so off to @brickwoodldn in Tooting for some carbs! It’s ridiculously mild in London with temps going up to 17c by Thursday. 😱 What are your weekend plans? One of my sons @djbassone and his wife are in Hamilton Island for the weekend.
