It was so good to find the time today and also have some natural daylight (we even had sunshine today!) to do some painting. I have a pine full length mirror which I bought in a car boot sales over six months ago and I've been trying to find the opportunity to have some fun with Annie Sloan paints on it. It is bevelled glass so decent quality but the frame is that horrible pine with an orange tinge.
I chose to paint it in two Annie Sloan colours:
- Aubusson (a dark teal colour)
- Duck Egg Blue (a lighter teal variant)
It only took me a couple of hours to complete the work, with the use of hairdryer to dry each coat.
My six steps for painting a pine mirror
- Two coats of Annie Sloan's "Aubusson"
- One coat of Annie Sloan's "Duck Egg Blue"
- A layer of clear wax
- Some light distressing with fine sandpaper
- A layer of dark wax but only in strategic places, particularly in the grooves
- A layer of clear wax to complete it.

I haven't painted anything in ages so this was a good chance to get started. I've no idea what I will do with the mirror as I don't need it in my house. I might put it on eBay or just gift it to a friend.
