Flowers and plants for Easter

April 27, 2014 Angela Bunt

You can never have too many flowers and plants in your home. Springtime is the best time as there are spring flowers and bulbs everywhere and they are so reasonably priced.  You can make a fantastic impact by spending very little money.

I love to fill the house with flowers for Easter. Here are the vases of flowers I prepared for the house. I buy most of my vases from Phoenix on Golborne in Golborne Road, off Portobello Road in London — gorgeous old enamel jugs, china jugs and vases, pottery and glass bottles.

I very rarely buy new containers for flowers as I prefer the aged look of old ones.  You can use preserving jars, milk bottles, ink pots, milk jugs, any sort of drinking glass. In fact, anything that can hold water is suitable for flowers.

My father was a florist in NZ for 54 years, so I grew up in a house full of beautiful vases of flowers and a spectacular garden. I also trained as a florist with my father and worked for five years as a florist. I've not done that sort of work for many years and would love to dapple again in floristry.

Look at the colour of this hydrangea. Isn't it incredible?!

In my limited outdoor space, the bulbs and other plants are flourishing due to the warm and sunny weather we have been having. Unfortunately, the snails seem to be flourishing in some of my plant pots!
